Courant algebroids in bosonic string theory
In this talk, we will explore the emergence of Courant algebroids in the context of bosonic string theory. We first consider the generator governing diffeomorphisms and local gauge transformations and show that the Courant bracket appears in such a generator. These symmetries are related by T-duality, making this generator self T-dual.
We then explore how changing the basis of the generator induces new algebroid relations, leading to the emergence of twisted Courant brackets. Specifically, we derive the B-twisted and theta-twisted Courant brackets and discuss how they give rise to various string fluxes. We show that these twisted brackets are related by T-duality, which can be understood as an isomorphism between Courant algebroids.
